YOUR CODE OF HONOUR

Your Personal Beliefs Shape Who You Are

Code of Honour: A Timeless Principle for Personal and Professional Integrity

In a world where values often seem negotiable, the concept of a “Code of Honor” remains a timeless beacon of integrity, accountability, and respect. Rooted in centuries-old traditions, it represents a personal or collective set of ethical principles that guide behavior, foster trust, and uphold dignity in every facet of life. But what does a code of honor truly mean, and why does it hold such significance in our modern age?

What Is a Code of Honor?

At its core, a code of honor is a moral compass—a framework of values and principles that individuals or groups commit to uphold. While its exact form may vary across cultures, organizations, or professions, the essence remains the same: to act with integrity, take responsibility for one’s actions, and treat others with respect.

Historically, a code of honor was associated with chivalric traditions, military conduct, and professional ethics. Knights adhered to codes of loyalty and bravery, while samurais followed the Bushido code, emphasizing respect and discipline. Even in modern contexts, professions like medicine, law, and journalism are governed by ethical codes that ensure accountability and maintain trust.

The Relevance of a Code of Honour Today

In today’s fast-paced and competitive world, a code of honor is more important than ever. It serves as an anchor, helping individuals and organizations navigate complex situations with integrity. Here’s why it matters:

1. Building Trust

A strong code of honor fosters trust among individuals, teams, and communities. Whether in a personal relationship or a corporate environment, honoring commitments and adhering to ethical standards cultivates reliability and mutual respect.

2. Guiding Decision-Making

Life often presents us with gray areas where the “right” choice isn’t always clear. A well-defined code of honor acts as a guide, ensuring decisions align with values rather than convenience or short-term gain.

3. Enhancing Reputation

Living by a code of honor earns respect and credibility. For organizations, it builds a positive reputation among clients and stakeholders. If you are someone seeking deeper meaning in life, focus on building a foundation rooted in integrity. Unlike fleeting achievements, this kind of legacy endures and speaks long after the events or moments have passed.

More importantly, it leaves a blueprint for the next generation to gain an insight into their past and to revisit it, reviving fond memories, and that truly inspires them to create a future that affirms who they truly are!

Reminiscing over them builds up once again long lost ties and creates a fertile ground on which new visions and dreams can manifest.

4. Promoting Inclusivity and Respect

A code of honor promotes inclusivity by valuing diversity and treating everyone with fairness. In an era of increasing global interconnectedness, this principle is essential for fostering harmony and collaboration.

Crafting Your Personal Code of Honour

Developing a personal code of honor doesn’t require a grand declaration. It’s a quiet commitment to uphold certain principles that resonate deeply with you. Here are steps to create your own:

  1. Reflect on Your Core Values
Identify what matters most to you—honesty, compassion, perseverance, or any other value that defines you.
  2. Set Clear Boundaries
Determine what behaviors you will or will not accept, both from yourself and others.
  3. Commit to Accountability
A code of honor isn’t just about intentions—it’s about actions. Hold yourself accountable for living up to your values, even when it’s challenging.
  4. Revisit and Refine
Life evolves, and so can your Code of Honor. Periodically reflect on your values and make adjustments as necessary.

Conclusion

One can feel extremely lost and feel even anxious with a sense of loss, particularly post-retirement. But if one is ready to contemplate the value of the Code of Honor, which has been the foundation of one’s life journey, then extraordinary joy, peace, and hope emerge even in our sunset years.

A code of honor is more than an abstract ideal—it’s a practical tool for leading a life of purpose and authenticity. Whether in personal relationships, professional endeavors, or societal contributions, it inspires integrity and builds bridges of trust. Embracing a code of honor doesn’t just define who we are; it shapes the world we wish to create.

Praying for the bengali speaking people group

Mental Health is Aligned with Spiritual Well Being

I am reminded of Apostle Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians – It was his deep desire that the Thessalonians will be completely sanctified one day soon.

As a called out servant of the Lord in India, I notice the sufferings of Indians everywhere. All human beings have the same need to connect with the Divine. In fact it is the deepest need of all living creatures. However, in the absence of sound teachings, one loses discernment of what are the sound moral grounds on which one needs to stand. This is evident in mass scale in the city of Kolkata in which I am presently living.

All the systems seem to be collapsing. These systems, to name a few – the Education, Legal and Health systems were put in place by the British in the main while they were ruling prior to our gaining of independence in 1947. The previous systems laid out under Islamic and Hindu dominion have lost their prevalence. However, Bengal seems to live under some kind of mental delusion in the main at the moment. As it has turned out, it is lagging behind the rest of the states in India. There seems to be an excessive emphasis on the brain and intellectual activities.

Christianity gradually crept into my father’s side of the family for over 3 generations through the Education System as laid by the British in the main. However, the tearing apart of one’s religious beliefs and the pain of partition have infiltrated through generations. The joint family systems and community mindsets which caused social and communal cohesion have disintegrated in general in the process as well. The family system has also been weakened. Every person lives for his or her personal gain.

As a missionary I am inclined to prayers each and everyday. While I pray for peace around the world, I also pray for peace and harmony in hearts of every human being. I pray that God makes us more compassionate with a higher level of awareness regarding oneness of the human race. This will solve numerous societal problems organically. I pray that God makes us more tolerant of one another, so that nobody feels led to oppress or judge another person unnecessarily.

The Book of Thessalonians in the New Testament deals with the Apostle Paul’s burden for the inhabitants of Thessalonica. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Unless we enjoy peace in our entire being we cannot be sanctified people. Lack of peace creates mental disturbance.

For the local Christians in West Bengal and Bangladesh, Western form of Christianity needs to be woven into our own spiritual past as our DNA is vastly different to other races. We can find perfect peace and mental stability if only we delve back into our very ancient roots, in which meditation as a practice was followed throughout India. I myself have found solace being grounded on the Word of God as taught by American Christian teachers and preachers. However, for my full spiritual development I have also delved into our Bengali past and found how meditation and yoga were needed to align body, mind and spirit. Having finally gained this path I am able to develop harmonious relationships with people practising different faiths. I am also able to protect myself from unexpected challenges from other Christians.

Overall the current age with knowledge explosions and highly busy lifestyle is causing more and more people to seek comfort in turning to spiritual forces. Signs are showing through the rise of religious tourism in India. It was heartwarming to travel recently with extended families travelling together in trains and hired vehicles on extended All India trips visiting places of worship throughout India.

Basic traits of human beings do not change with time and this is reflected in Apostle Paul’s yearning in his letter to the Thessalonians in The Bible. He touches on 2 important points as follows:

  • Paul prays that God, the God of peace, will sanctify the Thessalonians completely, meaning that they will be set apart for God’s purpose.
  • He also prays that their entire being – spirit, soul, and body – will be preserved blameless, meaning free from fault or reproach, until the coming of Jesus Christ.

I am proud to belong to the Bengali people group even though for 3 generations we have lived largely in Bihar. It is my prayer that Bengalis be set apart, so they can see a bigger picture of India in the days to come. For this to happen, they need to devote time to spirituality through personal efforts at seeking God’s presence in their lives each and everyday. Intellectualism and intellectual pursuits unfortunately cut them off from the Supreme Being.

Human beings are prone to change and are fickle minded. But our Almighty God is steadfast in His love for ALL of us without exception. When we experience Divine Love, we are freed from all forms of sectarianism. We often speak of Sanatan Dharma at an intellectual level in India. So, it is simply Utopia that we are thinking about. We like to believe that we are tolerant but we are too quick to judge one another. Our self created assumptions become our realities. Very few of us spend time in worship of a living God. If we did, we would be aligned with God’s desire for each one of us.

For me the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of Father in Heaven is the person who intercedes on behalf of me. It is through him that Salvation is assured for me. However, receiving the Lord as my Saviour does give me added responsibility of living each day out with responsibility.

If one feels that he or she is called by God then the real life journey starts and this journey is extraordinary. This is my personal experience going way back in 1964.

1 Thessalonians 5:24:“He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” Paul reassures the Thessalonians that God, who has called them to salvation, is faithful and will surely accomplish what he has promised, including the sanctification and preservation of their entire being.  This is my prayer for the Bengali people group. Many of whom have craved for a higher level of spiritual experience. But needless to say effort and self discipline in one’s spiritual growth is the key for opening that door of spiritual peace and harmony.

N G Majumdar’s Death anniversary

One Man’s Tragic Death Turns into A Generational Curse

Since the time I was a toddler I was taken to the spacious lounge room of my grandmother’s house and told to pray for the soul of Sona Dadu – N G Majumdar by my elders. There stood his still marble bust speaking of a life cut short brutally. This is the story of my long departed maternal grandfather who I never met but only heard about.

Many years have gone by and in my late sixties now, I must confess I never knew of the exact date of the death of N G Majumdar till now. My mother was his youngest daughter and she too never really mentioned his death anniversary. The entire family could not really ever come to grips with the unexpected tragedy apart from witnessing the tragic figure of my grandmother gradually fade away. The family continued to survive somehow with his death looming like a ghost in the background.

Being a self realized and spirit filled person I suddenly remembered him today and on searching through the Google Search Engine, I came across an old article which has been republished in The Telegraph today! Today, in fact happens to be the 125th Death Anniversary of my maternal uncle Noni Gopal Majumdar in Sindh; a very courageous and intelligent man whose life was cut short. Here’s the link of the The Telegraph article for anyone who wants to come by and read it: https://www.telegraphindia.com/culture/insight-dead-mans-tale-remembering-pioneer-archaeologist-nani-gopal-majumdar-ahead-of-his-125th-birth-anniversary/cid/1887313

The family as a result of this tragic accident crumbled. Professor Nalini Mohan Shastri went into a long depression. His bright son Manoj Mohan Mukherjee too was hit by mental depression as a generational curse. My own grandmother, Snehalata Mukherjee, the widow of NG Majumdar lived in a semi depressed state. She was rejected by her in-laws. The family plunged into spiritual darkness and abused and defamed one another.

The Holy Spirit guided me today as I was in my Sabbath rest and in prayers. It is not an accident that I am writing this blog. N G Majumdar’s youngest daughter was badly abused all her life. She was my mother and we had to live through all the spiritual/emotional turmoil she went through. Bad karma tumbled from generation to generation, leading to witchcraft with extreme intellectual exercise as a means of gaining power and strength.

It was an age of great deception and rivalry. Pure form of Hinduism was overshadowed by worshipping a goddess that was brought into homes by a delusional couple all over Bengal. Today most Bengalis live in delusion and fear. Mental confusion is the order of the day. Extreme intellectualism has taken its tole over the of Bengali community at large. We have a large section of intelligentsia who are averse to the running of the region.

Famine, wars and partition created uncertainty and distress among this people group during the colonial past. Poverty is rampant throughout the state of West Bengal in its present state. Mismanagement and lack of vision have percolated into our present state of hopelessness.

My mother Ila Mukherjee, the youngest daughter of NG Majumdar received the Lord while studying in the Diocesan Convent School in Kolkata. I do not think the rest of the family were aware of it. Due to lack of funds she could not pursue her studies in this private educational institution, after her father’s untimely death. Her departure from this world in 2016 was glorious, despite all the abuse and hatred she received for no reason from this family in her entire life. Her faith got revived, when I started visiting various Christian and Non Christian Educational centers in India. She was much touched by the prayers and the songs that we used to sing as believers of Christ.

It is my earnest prayer that Sona Dadu’s memories be laid to rest. He has long departed from this world but has certainly left a huge legacy together with other archeologists in India. His courage and a keen mind should be an inspiration to other scholars and archeologists who are coming up in the region. The Indian Subcontinent has numerous historical artefacts and it’s high time the Indian government comes up with bold decisions of either preserving or destroying them. Some of them are great eye sores. We need to be practical and stable in our mindset and desist from emotions that do not serve us any more.

India is a fascinating region and has welcomed people from all over the world. Many kingdoms have risen and fallen. It is a vast tapestry of people from numerous ethnic groups from all over the world. This is what the world has become especially in today’s age with the explosion and exchange of knowledge. A new India promises to give peace and harmony to the rest of the world – a world that is broken and lost. It can come only through following a path of peace and reconciliation.

I feel honored that the Holy Spirit guided me to publish this blog today. I remember N G Majumdar today in fondness and reverence. He lived in an age where there was little technology available in the field of Archeology and yet through sheer determination and courage he achieved much in an area which was part of the Silk Road. May his soul rest in peace. He is now united with the rest of his family members in a much better place. A place which is the final abode for all of us.

John 14:27 ” Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Growing into leadership

Organic Transformation – A Metamorphosis to Developing Into Accommodative Leader

In the aftermath of the Lok Sabha Elections I feel strongly the need for emergence of leaders who have committed themselves to emerge as a leader who can fill the gaps in the society for its urgent transformation and development. India is in desperate need of leaders who are visionaries and are prepared to take up the difficult road of self transformation.

Ego centric leadership is outdated. Such leaders often tend to use brute force alone to get what they need. They are not visionaries. They control, oppress and instill fear in the hearts of their followers. The intelligentsia becomes indifferent and live in a bubble.

Paramhansa Yogananda the author of ‘Autobiography of A Yogi’ continues to inspire youths even to this day to embrace a path of integrity, spirituality and physical discipline to attain the marks of leadership that can shed light into a world that tends to get dark without conscious effort.

Persons of strong character do not blame others for difficulties that can be traced to their own actions and lack of understanding. They know that no one has the power to detract from their happiness unless they themselves allow the adverse thoughts and actions of others to affect them. (Paramhansa Yogananda)

I am reminded of my natural father who never ever blamed others even when they were hostile to him or belittled him for no reason. The times were difficult.  It was post world wars, post freedom struggle…post several episodes of global dimension into which empaths and serious thinkers often fell into.

Everybody faces adversities in their journey of life.  When we encounter new set of circumstances we encounter adversities. Should we then give into fear and not try out new things in our lives? Of course not!

Great opportunities come with a package of negative surprises often as curve balls.  If we try to understand the Universal laws, we will understand that they happen as the energies start moving around and taking new forms.  The Universe throws them at us as part of our learning process.  It is up to us to read into them without shaming, blaming or complaining about unexpected incidents. A certain amount of stress tolerance is part of the journey of growth and transformation.  Piling up negative emotions associated with fear, sorrow and anger will cause harm to our earthen bodies.

Many a large successful family falls apart in India, failing to expand by shutting the doors to new ideas and new ways of thinking.  The law of nature is to nourish and nurture us in order for our fuller expression in our living circumstance.  The Universe does not accommodate for long stagnation and resistance to change. Resistance to change causes things to fall apart. Things start disintegrating due to lack of regeneration in life and living.  This is pure Physics.

Commitment to personal development and growth is the single most important thing to commit to, in one’s life.  In order for this to happen, we must commit ourselves to building our innermost strength from which flows our unique characters.  Most people fail to develop their unique characters due to lack of effort in their entire lives. They become easily satisfied with their attainments and do not want to take risks for fear of failure.  Growth mindset and growth awareness is available for every person to grasp and make. But only a few have the courage to grasp this great opportunity that we have in the course of our lives.

Your real power resides within you.  One sign of growing in maturity is taking full responsibility of things that seem not quite right around you.  When we get out of the endless cycle of blaming, shaming, complaining and finding fault with one another, we become master of our own destinies.  We create our own blueprint of life.

It is extraordinarily exhilarating to go about doing good and freeing one’s own self and those around that God sends down your path from Karmic entanglements.  This is what Jesus was doing and nobody seemed to understand him.  They only saw the surface…he was changing ways of thinking and mindsets that had become entrenched for generations without positive changes.

In his humanity Jesus was one of the finest leaders who drew strength from His Father to even give his life on the Cross in order to free humanity from suffering and living in a degraded state.

Taking responsibility for things happening around you without blaming, accusing or shaming others is the hallmark of true leadership.

steadfast love of abba father

Standing on God’s promises and walking in his marvelous light.

Dear Father I come again back to you into your loving hands.  I have been terrified where I found myself through the attacks of the enemy.  I come again and again into your outstretched hands seeking your comfort.  You have opened my eyes and taken off the veil from my eyes. You have taught me that there is a desperate need for me to grow and mature and that it’s never too late.  I have ministered to others and endured extraordinary amounts of hatred, ridicule and defamation both privately and publicly and yes, I do tend to sin when I am not obedient to your guidance.  Sin ensnares me too easily through the latent pride within me that raises its head too easily. It is an inherited generational curse.  But your power on the Cross subdues it and I find joy in surrender of all my talents.

What are my talents when I don’t surrender them to you first.  How can I fulfil my life purpose without first acknowledging that you were the one who gave them to me?  I have imprisoned myself in the quagmire of name and fame.  I have ensnared myself unknowingly covering myself with numerous garbs of identity while my own region and people group need compassion.

Thank you for giving me yet another season and that not everything is closed around me.  I rejoice today that I can run into your ever loving and waiting arms and that I have not run out of grace.  Thank you for your grace upon grace available to me.  As I draw every breath today, I realize the great blessing of life that I have received living out each day.  Raise my awareness, so I can dream of dreams that would be pleasing to you.

Thank you for giving me the wonderful light bearers, the angels and teachers who are available to guide me.  For I know that big dreams can only be achieved in togetherness and never alone through one’s personal strength and ability. Thank you for placing me in this wonderful Universe that always supports me no matter where I am placed, for whatever reason, in season and out of season.

Even though I often feel like a little cork bobbing up and down in the vast ocean of life most of the time, I also realize that I am your child and you will keep me protected no matter where I go.  I go to these unknown places in faith that you are sending me during this very dark time.  I know that it gets darkest before dawn.  I can sense the first glimpse of your marvelous light percolating in our region.  It is only through your Divine Power and Divine grace that our region is changing.  As long as we are alive, we are prisoners of hope.  Faith is seeing the unseen.

We see our region being transformed rapidly into a place that there will bring about a greater spiritual awakening than ever before.

Keep me steadfast in the covenant that you have signed with me and your chosen ones.  I now have the right to make a legal demand to you out of faith in your true nature which is unshakeable and steadfast. So, I pray for complete healing of my mind, soul and body so I can touch the hem of your garment and be completely healed.

We might lose my faith some days due to my weakness and mental delusion but you never lose your faith in us that we will complete the race in victory in this life!  AMEN

My Heritage Is Beautiful!

The Importance of a positive mindset

“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” — Psalm 16:6

Most of the psalms in the Book of Psalms in the Bible are attributed to King David. As the youngest in a large family, David was tasked with taking care of the family flock, a responsibility deemed ordinary and thus given to the youngest. This role of isolation, however, brought David closer to God, allowing him to experience miracles and protect his father’s flock from wild beasts without his family’s knowledge. He learned to exercise wisdom in managing his older siblings’ egos, ensuring he wasn’t seen as superior.

David’s life, from the outset, was far from pleasant. His elders received the lion’s share of attention and resources, leaving David isolated and unable to share his successes. Yet, nothing escapes the notice of the Almighty. God saw David’s heart and his diligence, and David found favor in God’s eyes. Each year, David was promoted, learning life’s lessons from the School of Hard Knocks. His regular prayers in isolation drew him closer to God, filling him with the Holy Spirit and inspiring him to compose songs dedicated to God. He had the favor of Abba Father.

David’s journey from a mere shepherd boy to one of Israel’s greatest kings was fraught with unthinkable hardships, challenges, and deceptions. People were jealous of him and hated him despite his natural goodness and humility. Yet, David remained a man of great integrity for most of his life. Despite extreme trials and tribulations, there were times when his heart overflowed with gratitude for all that God had done for him.

In the hustle and bustle of our lives, we often take our achievements for granted and forget the importance of expressing gratitude for all that God does for us each day. In our modern lifestyles, we overlook the myriad blessings we receive. How often do we pause to draw a deep breath, look around, and notice what God has done for us?

David’s faith in the Almighty shines through in the phrase, “…surely I have a delightful inheritance.” The word “surely” reflects his unwavering faith, regardless of the hardships he endured to achieve victory over his enemies. He describes his inheritance as “delightful.” How many of us can take delight in our inheritance?

Ultimately, it’s about personal attitude, not the circumstances we face in our lives. By embracing a mindset of gratitude and faith, we can recognize the beauty of our heritage and the blessings we receive each day. Let us, like David, find joy and gratitude in our inheritance and trust that our boundary lines have indeed fallen in pleasant places.

The Source of Our Inspiration

The Power of the Holy Spirit

“But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding. It is not only the old that are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right.” (Job 32:8-9)

We carry the very breath of the Almighty when we open our hearts and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This enables us to connect with the Lord and be mingled with His Spirit all day long.

Advancing in age does not ensure that we will gather wisdom along our life journey. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us true wisdom and teaches us to make wise choices in the right seasons of our lives. We discard the desperation of our younger years and learn to yield patiently to the dictates of the Almighty. We get our priorities in the right order and learn to value restraint in our actions.

Prayer: Almighty Father, I boldly approach your throne of grace and mercy, relying on the redemptive sacrifice of your Son. Today, I humbly recognize that mere knowledge and intellect do not empower me to exercise wisdom in every situation I face. Strengthen me to shed old ways that no longer serve me, as I mature each year. Fill me with your Divine Spirit and bless me with the wisdom to abandon thought patterns, speech, and approaches that are no longer beneficial. I willingly trade worldly wisdom for heavenly wisdom, as revealed in your Holy Word. With unwavering faith, I express gratitude for the opportunity to pray this prayer. Amen

Embracing Strength through Divine Support……

“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13

WE ARE NEVER ALONE!

Life is an unpredictable journey. Despite our best efforts to plan and set goals, things don’t always go as expected. Sometimes, the vested interests of joint families or other external pressures such as our immediate environment, can interfere with our progress. In our attempts to maintain harmony, we often neglect our own needs and aspirations.

In the midst of disappointments and unexpected failures, we can encounter the Divine’s comforting presence. God’s love, one of His paramount attributes, nourishes our inner being and brings us solace. When we start breaking through life’s roadblocks in unfamiliar surroundings, we become attuned to the higher power that governs the universe.

Through trials, a mindset of focus and determination can emerge. Avoiding hardships isn’t always the path to personal growth, maturity, and freedom. True wisdom comes from experiencing life firsthand and understanding that our triumphs and disappointments are fleeting moments, mere ripples in the vast ocean of existence.

A healthy mind with a true perspective on life’s vastness will realize that with focus and self-belief, success is within reach. By regularly turning to the Divine in prayer and meditation, we build inner strength. This practice fosters faith and helps us realize that with a focused mind, we can achieve our ambitious targets.

In the face of life’s challenges, remember the power of Divine support. Embrace the journey with faith and determination, knowing that strength and success come from a higher power guiding us through every step.

What you are….and what you are meant to be!

“What a wretched man am I! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” – Romans 7:24

In our Christian walk, dedicating and rededicating our lives strengthens our faith. When we are water baptized, our past is dead, and we are Born Again. This is a miracle, as our life is then hidden in the life of our dear Lord Jesus.

Dedicating our lives to Jesus disconnects us from our previous life and starts us on a fresh journey. We become the Apple of His eye, bringing Him great pleasure and joy as we express our gratitude to Almighty God through His Son, who died on the Cross for our sins and those of our forefathers.

Although we will remain sinners in the flesh, our dedication to our Lord opens the door to a spirit-filled life. This is not about following a certain religion but about making our Lord our personal Savior. He is someone we not only worship as the reflection of Almighty God but also see as our friend and guide. We can reach out to Him and seek guidance through reading the Word of God in the Holy Bible.

As our faith strengthens in our daily journey, peace descends upon our lives, as long as we do not become attached to the earthly blessings He bestows upon us. His expectation is for us to approach the heavenly throne in prayer each day and shed light around us so that His Kingdom descends upon the Earth.

Many Christians, due to a lack of spiritual awakening, fail to grasp the significance of receiving Jesus as Savior. They live compromised lives and fail to move out of the way of our Lord, who always seeks to bless us with love, peace, joy, patience, and other fruits of the Spirit.

Even Apostle Paul, the great proponent of the Lord’s teachings, felt his physical body was a constraint and that he was falling short of the glory of Almighty God. Through self-awareness of our shortcomings each day and working on them, we can overcome and run the race of our lives in victory. We need to keep filling the gap between where we are and what we can be in Christ!
